“A healthy eating

 

In order to stay fit and healthy it is important to have a balanced diet - in other words, food that contains something from each of three main groups of food. These groups are protein, fat and carbohydrates. You find protein in lots of food, for example milk, eggs, cheese, meet and fish. It helps your body to grow and be strong and it gives you energy.

Fat gives you energy but don’t eat a lot--it’s dangerous for you. There are a lot of fatty foods that come from animals, for example butter, cream, sour cream and cheese.

Carbohydrates give you more than 70 % of your energy. Sugar, bread, honey, fruits and vegetables such as potatoes and carrots all contain lots of carbohydrates.

Fruits, vegetables, potatoes and cereals all have fibre. It doesn’t give you energy but it fills your stomach when you are hungry.

There are many different vitamins and minerals.

They help your body be healthy.

You can get all your vitamins and minerals from fresh fruit and vegetables.

Protein is a component of every body cell and important for building the maternal blood supply.

It is also necessary for fetal hair, skin, muscle, nerve tissue and brain development.

Women need approximately 10 more grams of protein daily – a total of 60 grams a day—during the pregnancy. You find protein in lots of foods, for example milk, eggs, cheese, meat and fish.

Fat isnecessary not only as a source of energy.It takes part in metabolism and helps our body to keep warm. It is also necessary for absorption of Vitamins A, D, E, K. Use it sparingly. Food sources of fat include oil, butter, cream, sour cream, cheese.

Carbohydrates are sources of energy.Foods rich in Carbohydrates i nclude sugar, bread,honey,,fruits. vegetables, such as potatoes and beetroot. You should use them carefully

Fiber Fruits, vegetables, potatoes,cereal are sources of fiber. It is important in improvement of digestion Vitamins arespecial substances thatthe body needs.They play a very important role in human health.

Overdosage of some vitamins may be harmful, so people must take normal doses of vitamins.

Folic acid is a vitamin important in protein metabolism, particularly in period of rapid growth. Ready- to eat cereal with milk, orange juice, green leafy vegetables, liver and lentils are good sources of folic acid.

Vitamin A is needed for healthy eyes, increases resistance to infections. You will find it in Carrots, fish oil, eggs yolk, green vegetables, fruits.

Vitamin B is present in milk, eggs, liver, bread, yeast. It is needed to strengthen our nervous system/

Vitamin C increases resistance to infections, helps to recover after illness. It protects against scurvy and is found in citrus plants, tomatoes, green vegetables, hips,black currants, sea-buckthorn, cabbage.

Vitamin D is needed for healthy bones and for protection against rickets. It is found in egg yolk,, liver, fish oil, in small amount from milk and butter. We get most of our Vitamin D from the sun.

Minerals

Calcium and Phosphorus are importan t minerals in fetal bone development. A pregnant woman requires 1.200 mg of calcium and phosphorus daily. Dairy products are excellent sources of both calcium and phosphorus. Foods rich in phosphorus include also egg yolk, meat, fish, cheese, nuts, oatmeal, buckwheat leguminous plants.

Zinc is anothermineral needed for fetal growth and development. Good food sources of zinc include meat, yeast, cereal,sea food.

Iron builds maternal blood volume and fetal blood and muscle. Foods rich in iron include red meat, liver, fish, leguminous plants, buckwheat, cereal
