Family relations

Family, in my opinion, is someone who loves you and whom you love either. It can be not only your parents but also people who are dear to you, who take care of you. If you have someone who can do everything for you and you can do the same – you are lucky you have a family. I think that the family in this point of view is one of the most important things in our life, and people who have no family are always lonely and moreover nobody takes care of them. It’s wrong to think that your family is only your father and mother your family consists of all the dearest people. For example orphans have no parents but maybe on their life ways they meet people who become dear and important for them and they name it family. Or when you grow up and go away from your parents you meet someone who is another half of you – this man is also your family. To some up your family is your parents, your dearest friends and sweethearts. To say about family like a child and father and mother it’s not always but often the worm of home and kindness of parents. The child without parents can’t enjoy the life other children live. And we have to take care of people, who are dear to us, especially if you’re the only child in a family because all love and care parents give only to you. And you shouldn’t break their heart. From one hand it’s great to be the only child in a family but in some cases it’s not. On the plus side parents always ready to help you but on the contrary when there is too much care it seems not to be good, because you cannot show your independence, do something yourself. Also you can feel lonely and bored. But your parents often do whatever their child wants and if it’s necessary they help you and warn. They always spend their time doing something together with child to make him happy or teach something. And you have to appreciate their care and love. Because nobody except them love you so much and know a lot about you. As for me, I am the only child in family. And sometimes I think about how I will live if I have a sister or brother. Sometimes it is so boring to be at home along. I think about my parents, that all my childhood they helped me and did everything for me. But it doesn’t mean that I’m the main person in my family. Family it’s also our grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles. And the family tree has a long history of generations that sometimes are so ancient that we cannot remember the member of it, the name and occupation. And of coarse we know about our forefathers from our grandparents. As for me it’s really interesting to know who lived before me. And when I begin to ask my parents about forefathers I find for myself a lot of interesting things. For example some features of character which I have or part of appearance. But it’s a pity that I know not a lot of people in my family branch.

Appearance and Character

One should never judge a person by external appearance. When we first meet a person, we often judge a person based on his or her external appearance. We say that because that is just because we do not know much about that person and one’s face can show us more about their personality. As far as I am concerned, I believe that we should not evaluate someone just by his or her external appearance.

The appearance is deceptive. When you see beautiful girls or handsome boys, you may think that they are good, and that you do not need to take precautions when we are near them. But it only depends on your feeling, and there is no clue that they are good or bad.

For instance, there are many good looking boys now who go cheating around. They say that they sell things for charity organizations, and we believe that. But after reading reports in the newspaper, I realize that is only a trick to sell company’s products.

Most of us often draw a short conclusion on one’s character when we first get acquainted to them. As for me, external appearances do not reflect anything because it is only one small part of A human beings character. Furthermore, we cannot choose our personal appearance, just only our thoughts and our behavior.

Before judging anyone by external appearance only, one should keep in mind that a wrong judgment and its implication can lead to real regrets later. When we judge someone by appearance only, we can wrongly appreciate internal features. We need to spend some time with a person to understand clearly everything about him.

To sum up, I think everyone is equal, regardless of their appearances. We should know all about their internal features and external appearance to make a fair judgment.

Dwelling and its Types

We can hardly say that today there exist the problem of choosing a type of housing. Everyone can find something he or she likes. For instance, some people prefer to live somewhere in the country in a small, but cozy cottage or a large farmhouse. To my mind those people, who prefer this type of dwelling really adore nature: they want to wake up to songs of birds, to enjoy beautiful landscapes, to breath fresh air or in other words they want to have a calm and measured rhythm of life. Usually such people keep the poultry and the cattle. One of advantages living in such a house is that you have your own land where you can grow fruit and vegetables, make flowerbeds and plant beautiful flowers, lay out an orchard, etc. You can also build some outhouses like a green-house, a garage, a tool shed or an arbor. But the greatest disadvantage of living in a farmhouse or in a cottage, in my opinion, is that it takes much time to get to the nearest town, but if you have a car it isn't a problem for you. That's why I think over the possibility to live in a cottage when I retire.

There are also those who like semi-detached houses or, as the Americans call them, duplexes. I believe that such houses attract people because they are less expensive than mansions or bungalows for example and you have only one neighbor as opposed to block of flats. And as you have a neighbor you can always turn to him if you need something, though from time to time your neighbor can disturb you when he repairs his part of the house or listens to music too loudly. But in general I'm sure that it’s quite nice to live in a semi-detached house.

Time and Dates

A year is the average time it takes the earth to go once round the sun. there are 12 months or 52 weeks or 365 days in a year. Every four years there is a leap year. It has 366 days. We all know the names of the months, but not all of us can quite remember how many days there are in each month. There is a little poem to help.

Thirty days has September,

April, June and November.

All the rest have thirty-one,

Excepting February alone,

Which has but twenty-eight days clear,

And twenty-nine in each leap year.

There are seven days in a week, 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute.

The sun rises in the east in the morning. The beginning of the day is dawn or daybreak. Then comes morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night. We tell the time by means of watches and clocks. Watches are small. We can carry them either in our pockets or wear them on our wrists. The former are called pocket watches and the latter – wrist watches.

A clock is bigger than a watch; it usually stands on a table or hangs on the wall in the house. There are figures on the face of the clock or watch to mark the hours, minutes and seconds. The hands of the clock or watch point to the figures telling us the time.

There are three hands altogether. The biggest hand shows the minutes, the smaller – the hours and the smallest – the seconds.
