What is typical English breakfast?

Most people around the world seem to think a typical English breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, mushrooms and baked beans and a cup of coffee. Nowadays, however, a typical English breakfast is more likely to be a bowl of cereals, a slice of toast, orange juice and a cup of coffee.

Many people, especially children, in England eat a bowl of cereal. They are made with different grains such as corn, wheat etc.

The traditional English breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread and mushrooms. Even though not many people eat these things for breakfast today, it is always served in hotels and guest houses around Britain.

The traditional English breakfast is called the “Full English”, sometimes “The Full English Fry-up”.

"Description of a person and a place"

I'd like to speak about my friend Aset and his flat. Andrey is fourteen. He lives with his parents not far from our school. He likes animals, especially cats. He has got a cat Lastik at home. Aset has short, light hair and gray eyes. He is quite short and rather thin. He always manages to be cheerful, energetic and full of life. He is helpful and honest. He is very attentive to his parents. We spend much time together - watch video or listen to the music, walk or go to the cafe discussing all sorts of things. Our friendship helps me feel strong and sure of myself. He lives in a old flat. It is a three-room flat of a typical block of flats with a lift. His flat is on the fourth floor. As you enter his flat, you find yourself in a small entrance-hall, and from there you can go to the rooms: the living-room, his parent's bedroom and his own room. Aset use his room as a study and a bedroom. His room is a very comfortable one. The only window in his room faces the green park, which is situated near our house. It is so nice to look out of the window in a bright sunny day! The view is really wonderful. There is a modern writing table with a reading-lamp on it. He always keep there his notes, text-books and pencils. On the little table there is a cassette recorder. You see, he is fond of music and often enjoy listening to the lovely melody in his native language. His bed stands near the standard lamp. The floor in Aset's room is covered with a thick carpet. To cut the long story short, I should admit that his room is very attractive and I like it very much.

The mystery of Okinawa

Takinashi always walks three kilometres a day, and he sometimes rides a motorbike. He often works in his garden, and he usually does martial arts in the morning. He is never stressed, and he is hardly ever ill. Not unusual you think? But Takinashi is _____ years old.

Takinashi lives on the island of Okinawa in Japan. In Okinawa people live a very long time. They are hardly ever ill. Many people live to be 100 – more people than in other parts of the world. Why? What is their secret?

__________________________________________

The Okinawans eat vegetables, fruit, fish, soya, and rice. They usually have seven portions of fruit and vegetables a day. People don’t usually drink much alcohol or smoke. They don’t eat much meat or fast food.

__________________________________________

Physical activity is very important for the people of Okinawa. Martial arts, walking, traditional dancing, and gardening are very popular with people of all ages.

__________________________________________

In many countries people have healthy diets and do exercise. But the unusual thing about the people in Okinawa is that they are not stressed. They are relaxed and take their time. Buses are hardly ever on time, and people often arrive an hour late for meetings. Every evening hundreds of people, young and old, go to the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. People often meditate to relax.

__________________________________________

Another important thing is that people often work until they are 80 – sometimes they until 90! In the Okinawan dialect there is no word for ‘retired’. They are busy and active all their lives. Old people don’t stay at home – they go out and meet friends.

When journalists ask people “What is the secret of your long life?”, they answer “We are happy, we are always positive, and we are never in a harry”.
