Grammar: formation of Past Perfect Active Voice

Мета: ─ формувати навички аудіювання, читання та усного мовлення з використанням елементів узагальнення та порівняльного аналізу;

─ ознайомити учнів з новим граматичним часом Past Perfect Active, навчити вживати його в усному та писемному мовленні;

─ виховувати увагу, уміння чітко виконувати інструкції вчителя та співрозмовників, інтерес до вивчення іноземної мови.

- About three million people live in this city.

- This city has the oldest underground (metro) in Europe.

- The metro in this city is one of the most beautiful in Europe.

- There are 35 theaters and about 40 museums in this city.

- The city consists of 4 big parts.

- This city stands on the river.

 

g) Грамматика: formation and use of Past Perfect Active Voice:

a. Everybody had finished his work by the appointed time.

b. When we entered the theater the play had begun.

c. At last I learned what had happened to my friend.

d. She was sure she had never seen that man before.

e. He said that he had never been to London.

f. Helen had passed her exam by 3 o’clock.

g. We had had our dinner when the phone rung.

h. My brother was ashamed that our team had lost the game.

i. They were sad that David had broken his bicycle.

Мета: ─ формувати навички вживання нових ЛО в усному та писемному мовленні учнів;

─ ознайомити та навчити вживати у монологічному мовленні додаткові ЛО з теми “У музеї”;

─ вдосконалювати навички читання та мовлення з використанням окремих елементів порівняльного аналізу явищ;

─ сприяти розвитку самостійного мислення, уваги та спостережливості.

Мета: ─ вдосконалювати навички читання, аудіювання та усного мовлення з проблемної ситуації;

─ повторити вживання граматичних структур в Past Perfect Active, навчити вживати аналогічні структури в усному та писемному мовленні;

─ практикувати інтерактивні форми навчання, стимулювати прояви ініціативи учнів групи;

─ розвивати естетичні смаки учнів та їх комунікативні здібності, виховувати повагу до поетичниго слова, любов до української та англійської поезії.

a) Перевірка виконання домашнього завдання – «About Shakespeare», put the paragraphs A – F in the correct order and read the biography.

b) Вправа 17 стор. 109 – choose sentences and make stories about two great politicians Mykhailo Hrushevskyi and Margaret Thatcher, compare their lives and say what both persons had in common.

c) T.: Do you know the names of other politicians of England and Ukraine?

Could you tell us about their lives and activities?

Why are these persons very popular in the world?

What are their political views?

Do the common people support them? Give your reasons.

d) Повторення: утворення і вживання граматичних структур з Past Perfect active Voice; the pupils have to make up and write down at least three sentences into their exercise-books.

Мета: ─ вдосконалювати навички читання та усного мовлення з теми;

─ активізувати вживання нової ситуативної лексики у граматичних структурах та мовних вправах;

─ розвивати пізнавальний інтерес до теми, вміння вести діалог і полілог з проблемних питань даної навчальної ситуації;

─ розвивати аудитивну пам’ять, увагу, спостережливість, елементи логічного та критичного мислення.

a) Виконання вправи 18 стор. 110 – read the information about London parks and match the description of each park with its picture:

Hyde Park – St. James’s Park – Regent’s Park – Green Park.

b) Hand-outs: Londoners do not have to go far to find green fields. London is very rich in parks and gardens. Londoners are very proud of them. Hyde Park is certainly the most popular park in London. It may be called a National Park. Londoners love it. On Sunday mornings in summer one can see lots of people sitting with their families on the grass or listening to the music. Some of them are bathing or boating on the Serpentine. Some rich Londoners are riding on horseback – a very expensive pleasure. Hyde Park is the place for different national parades and mass meetings.

c) Вправа 19 стор. 111 – look at the map of Kyiv and answer the questions:

• How many parks are there in Kyiv?

• What parks are there in the center of the city?

• Which park is the biggest?

• Which parks are there on the banks of the Dnipro?

• Have you ever been to Kiev’s parks?

• Are there any parks in our town?

• How often do you visit them?

• What are the attractions in the parks?

• Why do many people go to the park on week-ends?

d) Вправа 20 стор. 111 – divide the text into words and sentences, read the description of one of Kiev’s parks (“Trukhaniv Ostriv”).

e) Вправа 21 стор. 111 – look at the picture and make up a story using some necessary vocabulary («A Good Haul»):
