Запомните следующие словосочетания, в которых артикль не употребляется: to go to bed / to be in bed (пойти спать / спать); to be / to lie on the bed (лежать в постели); to go to work / to be at work (пойти на работу / быть на работе); to go home / to be at home (пойти домой / быть дома); to go to prison / to be at prison (сесть в тюрьму / сидеть в тюрьме); to go by train / by car / by plane (передвигаться поездом/машиной/самолетом).

Употребление артиклей с географическими названиями

Названия горных цепей, рек, океанов, морей: the Rocky Mountains, the Alps, the Atlantic (Ocean), the Mediterranean (Sea), the Nile, the Thames, the Amur.	1. Примечание. Определенный артикль употребляется в названиях кораблей, газет, журналов, гостиниц, концертных залов, кинотеатров: the Bolshoy Theatre, the Titanic the British Museum, the Savoy, the Manchester Guardian.
