Sitting in a temple of Viṣṇu, he practices bhakti-yoga, and, controlling all his senses, concentrated his mind on the Lord.
Yogam means bhakti-yoga. Ātmani means “on the Lord.”

viyujyātma-samādhinā
yuyuje bhagavad-dhāmni
brahmaṇy anubhavātmani
Detaching his mind from the sense objects, with full concentration, he absorbed his mind in the form of the Lord, the supreme Brahman, who is the object of realization.
Detaching his mind from sense objects, with concentrated mind (ātma-samādhinā) he engaged his mind in the form of the Lord (bhagavat-dhāṁni).

yarhy upārata-dhīs tasminn
adrākṣīt puruṣān puraḥ
upalabhyopalabdhān prāg
vavande śirasā dvijaḥ
When his intelligence became fixed on the form of the Lord, he saw the persons before him whom he had previously seen. Seeing them, he bowed his head.
When his intelligence was fixed in the form of the Lord, he saw before him (puraḥ) the forms which he previously had seen.

hitvā kalevaraṁ tīrthe
gaṅgāyāṁ darśanād anu
sadyaḥ svarūpaṁ jagṛhe
bhagavat-pārśva-vartinām
After seeing those forms, he gave up his body at this holy place on the Gaṅgā River and immediately attained a spiritual body as an associate of the Lord.

mahāpuruṣa-kiṅkaraiḥ
haimaṁ vimānam āruhya
yayau yatra śriyaḥ patiḥ
Accompanied by the order carriers of Lord Viṣṇu, Ajāmila boarded an airplane made of gold. Passing through the airways, he went directly to the abode of Lord Viṣṇu, the husband of the goddess of fortune.

dāsyāḥ patiḥ patito garhya-karmaṇā
