N.B. В функции определения и обстоятельства герундий стоит в предложении с предлогом перед ним.

Запомните, как будут переводиться следующие предлоги в сочетании с герундием в функции обстоятельства:

1. in + Gerund - при

2. on + Gerund – после, по

3. by + Gerund – путем, при помощи

4. through + Gerund – благодаря, из-за

5. without + Gerund - без или отрицательной формой деепричастия

 

N.B. Как существительное, герундий может определяться притяжательным местоимением:

I think of her entering the institute -Я думаю о ее поступлении в институт.

или существительным в притяжательном падеже:

I think of my sister's entering the institute - Я думаю о поступлении моей сестры в институт

N.B. Как глагол, герундий может иметь при себе прямое дополнение.

I remember reading this book - Я помню, что читал эту книгу.

или наречие:

I like reading aloud - Я люблю читать вслух.
