UNIT 7

ПАСИВНИЙ СТАН ДІЄСЛОВА (PASSIVE VOICE)

 

Пасивний стан використовується, коли важлива сама дія, але не відомо, не важливо або очевидно, хто її виконує.

Ми утворюємо пасивний стан за допомогою дієслова to be та 3 форми дієслова.

Основні форми дієслова у пасивному стані наступні

present simple: am/is/are + V3 The flowers are watered twice a week. – Квіти поливають 2 рази на тиждень.
present continuous: am/is/are + being + V3 The flowers are being watered now. – Квіти поливають зараз.
present perfect: have/has + been + V3 The flowers have not been watered yet. – Квіти ще не полили.
past simple: was/were + V3 The flowers were watered yesterday. – Квіти поливали вчора.
past continuous: was/were + being + V3 The flowers were being watered when the boss arrived. – Квіти поливали, коли прийшов начальник.
past perfect: had been + V3 The flowers had been watered by two o’clock. – Квіти поливали до другої години.
future simple: will be + V3 The flowers will be watered tomorrow. – Квіти поливатимуть завтра.

 

Для того, щоб зробити питання, ми ставимо дієслово to be перед підметом.

e.g. Was the letter written? – Листа написали?

 

Щоб утворити заперечну форму, ми додаємо слово not.

e.g. The floor is not cleaned. – Підлога не вимита.

The letter has not been written yet. – Листа ще не написали.

Форма інфінітива у пасивному стані така:

to be + V3

e.g. He likes to be asked a question. – Йому подобається, коли його питають.

Ми утворюємо пасивний стан з модальними дієсловами таким чином:

modal verb + be + V3

e.g. The report must be passed. – Звіт треба здати.

With or by?

Прийменник by вказує на того, хто виконував дію.

Прийменник with вказує на матеріал/прилад/..., за допомогою чого виконували дію.

e.g. The ring was made by jewelers with silver.

 

ü Не всі дієслова можливо перевести у пасивний стан. Можна лише ті, після яких можна поставити додаток.

e.g. Susan cleans the silver. (Сюзан чистить срібло - є додаток: срібло)-> The silver is cleaned by Susan.

It is snowing. (Йде сніг, додатку нема і не може бути, тому перевести у пасивний стан не можна)
