COMMENTARY

Kṛṣṇa said, “Your intelligence is strong (ūrjitā), not moving here and there.”

 

|| 10.51.59 ||

pralobhito varair yat tvam apramādāya viddhi tat

na dhīr ekānta-bhaktānām āśīrbhir bhidyate kvacit

TRANSLATION

Understand that I enticed you with benedictions just to prove that you would not be deceived. The intelligence of My unalloyed devotees is never diverted by material blessings.

COMMENTARY

Kṛṣṇa said, “Know that by offering you benedictions, I am showing other worshipers how you will not be bewildered (apramādāya) by such things.” Or another meaning is: “You will not be distracted because the intelligence of My devotee is never attracted to material enjoyment.”

 

|| 10.51.60 ||

yuñjānānām abhaktānāṁ prāṇāyāmādibhir manaḥ

akṣīṇa-vāsanaṁ rājan dṛśyate punar utthitam

TRANSLATION

The minds of nondevotees who engage in such practices as prāṇāyama are not fully cleansed of material desires. Thus, O King, material desires are again seen to arise in their minds.

COMMENTARY

Those who worship other objects are attracted to material enjoy-ment. That is illustrated in this verse. For the nondevotee jñānīs and yogīs practicing prāṇāyama, sama and dama attraction to material enjoyment awakens (utthitam) again.

 

|| 10.51.61 ||

vicarasva mahīṁ kāmaṁ mayy āveśita-mānasaḥ

astv evaṁ nityadā tubhyaṁ bhaktir mayy anapāyinī

TRANSLATION

Wander this earth at will, with your mind fixed on Me. May you always possess such unfailing devotion for Me.

COMMENTARY

Kṛṣṇa said, “I have already given you pure bhakti, but today I am giving it to you again.”

 

|| 10.51.62 ||

kṣātra-dharma-sthito jantūn nyavadhīr mṛgayādibhiḥ

samāhitas tat tapasā jahy aghaṁ mad-upāśritaḥ
