How to distract the child from the whims

 

One of the ways to deal with the children’s whims and the tantrums is to switch the child’s attention to something else. For example, “Oops, what the big tears disappear! Let us put them in the bottle!” Or “Look, there is a Caprice sitting on your shoulder and crying. Let us get her out of here!” You can distract the baby’s attention with some new bright object or offer him an interesting lesson. For example, watch a filmstrip, a cartoon or read your favourite fairy tale with him.

You can invite your child to participate in your chosen activity (= cleaning the apartment, cooking, etc.), or decide together what you will do, or you can connect to the baby’s classes yourself. Stop being a strict parent for a while, become an equal participant in some children’s game.

For example, play in “The family”. Take the role of the child, and let your baby be a father or a mother. Playing the role of an adult, he will use the experience gained in the family, and you will see yourself as if from the outside. And this is sometimes useful!

 

All three kinds of the communications are very important. When the child connects to your affairs, he feels his need, joins the world of the adults. If you decide together what to do, he gets used to the democratic communication that is learns the ways to choose what everyone likes, and not just him. Playing a children’s game, you learn to understand the baby yourself, and the child feels its importance (because in the games it is always the main one and the parent is only a timid student). But the most important thing, of course, is that in all the cases, the child gets pleasure from the joint communication, feels the parental love and becomes more understanding and tender himself.

 

The nursery rhymes

You can distract and amuse your baby with the folk nursery rhymes.

The rules of the game are known to everyone, I will not repeat them, I will only note that you should not try to hide so that the child cannot find you, and this is also not worth finding him very quickly. “The chepena”

This is the fun game that resembles the famous collective one. “If you are having fun, do it...” The players stand in a circle, the leading – in the middle. If you are playing together with the baby, stand against each other. You will be the chepena that is head the games. The child must repeat all your words and the movements. And the words are:

When the leading pronounce the word “the land”, the player or the players jump ahead, when the leading says the word “the water”, the children take a step back.

The task can be changed at the request by the children. For example, the players can jump if not everyone likes it but to raise the hands up, crouch, tell something. The words of the leading can be changed too. They are “the coast – the river”, “the sea – the ground” and etc.

“The search for the treasure”

Hide some sweetness or toy in the room. Interest your child in the fact that “the treasure” is very tasty or very pleasant for him. Then outline the place where you want to look for it. The degree of the difficulty of the task depends on the age of the child. It is not necessary to hide “the treasure” so that the baby, exhausted, stopped looking for it. He must find what is hidden, and the joy of the consciousness that he was able to do it, will be huge.

“What is your name?”

The leading gives the player or the players the names Button, Broom, Bubble, etc. After that, he asks questions to the player, which he must answer in one word with his name. If a participant makes a mistake or hesitates, they lose.

“The boxfish”

You can take a basket or submit it for this game. The players should put different items in the basket in turn. The rules of the game are the names of the objects must begin with the same letter. The driver makes the guess about the item in the room. His task is to describe this item to another player, without naming it, but in a way that is clear. The player must guess what the driver made. After that they change the places.

“The blind man”

This game is known to everyone and does not need a detailed description. One of those present (the adult or the child) is blindfolded and looks for the other, trying to grab him. The children usually like to be in the role of the sought because they are amused by the helplessness of the adults.

“The snowball”

This game trains the memory and develops the attention. The players take turns naming any words that come to mind. The main thing is there are the names of the objects or the animals (the nouns) in it. When the first player names a word, such as “home”, the second player must first repeat it, and then name their own word. The next player repeats all the previous words and calls his own ones. This continues until someone gets lost. Then you can start the game again.

“The magic word”

The adult acts as the driver who gives the simple commands to other players. “Raise your hands, please! Stand on your toes, please!” The playing children have to repeat his command, but under the condition that they will sound with the word “please”. Who makes a mistake leaves the game.

If there is a hoop in the house, compete with the child who will get through it faster or jump in it from the wall to the wall.

This will not be an easy task, since first the player is blindfolded, then the child is circled him in one place, and only after that he is given the opportunity to find the ball and hit it. And if the child did not find the ball – he lost!

You can arrange a competition with the skittles. For example, who will collect them faster with the blindfold or knock them out with the small ball the one will knock them down more.
