The Infinitive

She can swim best of all.

I never saw her cry.

Let him go.

He made her cry.

4. после would rather, had better и после глагола.

I would rather keep my personal life private.

  Active Voice Passive Voice
Simple Infinitive to V to be Ved (III)
Present Continuous Infinitive to be Ving
Perfect Infinitive to have Ved (III) to have been Ved (III)
Perfect Continuous Infinitive to have been Ving

To sell my car was difficult.

The point is to achieve the aim.

The plane is to arrive at 3 o’clock.

She likes to sing.

He is always the first to be asked.

He is too lazy to get up early.

To tell the truth, I don’t like this novel.

I saw him crossing the street.

They are reported to arrive in two days.

В этой конструкции глагол в форме инфинитива обозначает действие, которое выполняется существительным (местоимением), стоящим после for: We waited for the rain to stop.
