Упражнение 1. Объясните употребление времени the Present Indefinite (Simple) в следующих предложениях.

1. I sleep here. My father sleeps in his study. 2. In case she wants to see him, he will come over. 3. ‘Your mouth is bleeding. Does it hurt?’ Martha asked me. 4. Where do we go from here? 5. Please see that the children don`t get nervous. 6. I do a lot of travelling, you know. 7. One lives and learns. 8. He owns a big car. 9. «It won`t do any good to anyone if you get ill», I said. 10. «His men act silently as a rule. They wear dark glasses and they call after dark», he added.

 

Упражнение 2. Поставьте глаголы в скобках во время the Present Indefinite (Simple).

Indefinite (Simple) Tense

The Past Indefinite (Simple) Tense выражает действие, совершившееся в прошлом, и употребляется в следующих случаях:

1. Как основное время в повествовании о прошлых событиях (для выражения регулярно совершавшихся действиях): When we lived in camp we got up at 7 o`clock and went to the river to wash.

2. Для выражения последовательных действий (цепочки действий) в прошлом: we went to the park, walked down to the fountain and sat down on a bench near it.

3. Для выражения единичных законченных действий, совершившихся в прошлом. В этом случае в контексте указывается время его совершения: We met him yesterday.

4. Для выражения действий, которые происходивших в указанный момент в прошлом, если глагол не употребляется в форме Continuous, например: I was looking out of the window but I saw nothing.

5. Для выражения действий, которые происходили в течение некоторого периода времени, начавшихся и закончившихся в прошлом: He looked at him for a long time.

6. Следующие обстоятельства времени наиболее часто употребляются с глаголами в The Past Indefinite (Simple)Tense: yesterday, the day before yesterday, last week (month, year, Monday), last time, last two (three, four) days (months, years)ago, the other day, in 2011.
