a) You're buying a ticket to your destination. Ask the booking-clerk about the type of ticket you would like, time of departure, number of the platform, etc.Speak with your partner.

b) You're going to have an exciting journey by train (plane, sea, etc.) Think what you will take with you, what cases you will pack.

c) You're on the station platform going to leave by train. Ask the porter to help you with your luggage and to find you a comfortable seat.

Mr Ivanov: A friend from Moscow is over here on a short visit. He's been attending a conference here

and today I've been showing him round.

Mr Smith: Oh, have you? Where have you taken him?

Mr Ivanov: We've been walking round the City and he insisted on climbing to the top of the

Monument.

Mr Smith: Oh, you'll be stiff¹ tomorrow. There are over three hundred steps, aren't there?

Mr Ivanov: Well, there are three hundred and forty-five, to be exact. But still, there's a marvellous

view when you do get to the top.

Mr Smith: Oh, yes, it is wonderful. On a clear day you can see for miles.

Mr Ivanov: We've also visited the Tate Gallery.

Mr Smith: Oh, and I haven't been there yet.

Mr Ivanov: Would you like me to take you there one of these days?

Mr Smith: That's very kind of you. Thank you. And now you've earned a good rest after all that

sightseeing.

Mr Ivanov: I certainly have. I've been walking round for over three hours.
