Moscow Volunteer Tourist Centre was created with the assistance of the State autonomous educational institution "Moscow State Institute for Tourism Industry n. a. Yuri Senkevich" by decree of head of the Moscow City Committee for Tourism and the Hotel Industry No. 20-d of May 3, 2012. The project aims to improve tourist attractiveness of the city, including assistance to Russian and foreign tourists in land navigation and provision of background information on tourist attractions and possible routes (tourism, transport, etc.). VTC trains volunteers from various universities and colleges. Address: 43A Kronshtadtsky Boulevard, Moscow

Accommodation

Moscow boasts a developed hospitality industry (индустрия гостеприимства). It has in-bound (въездной) travel companies including those focusing on foreign tourists, around 3,000 restaurants and 900 hotels of various price categories which means that it will not be difficult for you to find something that will suit your taste.

Speaking about accommodation, Moscow has a great variety of hotels: from luxurious brand names to the economy-class hotels.

Famous international companies mainly manage expensive four and five star hotels. These hotels will provide you with the high level of service and modern comfort conditions: satellite TV, the Internet, mini-bars, laundry service and 24 hour cleaning service. As a rule such hotels have haute cuisine restaurants (рестораны высокой кухни). Some hotels have fitness-clubs and swimming pools. Moscow hotels are very responsible when it comes to the security of their guests. You can rent a safe box in any expensive hotel.

Plenty of Moscow hotels occupy historical buildings, which have been reconstructed and renovated. Central Deluxe level hotels are usually located in a walking distance to the main sightseeing places, business and shopping centers.

Three and two star hotels are popular in Moscow as well. Plenty of them have been renovated and now their interiors and exteriors comply with the worldwide standards.

Unfortunately not all hotels are equipped with the entrance slip roads  for

wheelchairs   and  you  should  make  inquiries  if  a  hotel  has  this  or  that  facility

beforehand. Almost all hotels have booking services (you can either book a hotel through the Internet or by phone) and you don't have to contact agencies. However please be aware that some hotels may ask you to pay for this service.

Three-Star Hotels in Moscow

Inexpensive ―three-star‖ hotels is the most popular type of accommodation with travelers all over the world. Moscow is no exception: every year more of such venues (место проведения) open in the Russian capital.

A  hotel‘s  ―star‖  rating  depends  on  the  number  and  quality  of  the  services  it provides, as well as the level of comfort it can offer its guests.

Standards

It is not generally known that there is a state standard specifying the minimum parameters of single and double rooms in 3-star hotels: 10 sq.m for singles, 14 sq.m for doubles, and 3.8 sq.m for the bathroom. In addition, according to the state standard, soap, shampoo and a hairdryer should be provided in the bathroom.

Amenities

There are certain obligatory features for a classic 3-star hotel. Various types of rooms must be available: single rooms and double or family rooms (in the latter case

extra beds can be provided). The services in each room, besides daily cleaning and changing of bed linen and towels, must include a telephone, a color TV and a refrigerator. This type of hotel will always have a restaurant — often more than one. Three-star hotels are just as suitable for business trips as for holidays. The majority of them have modern business centers that are well equipped for staging various events.

Location

There are few 3-star hotels in the very center of Moscow, though you will occasionally come across them in old buildings in historical districts. One of these is the cozy Hermitage Hotel, just 15 minutes‘ walk from the Kremlin.

The majority of 3-star hotels are in quiet picturesque corners of the city. The Vega Hotel, on the territory of a former estate of the Romanovs, is surrounded by an old park and picturesque ponds, while the Astrus Hotel is close to the magnificent Troparevo Park.

3- star hotels are most suitable for the majority of tourists. These hotels provide all the services necessary for a full-value stay, sometimes no inferior to those offered by hotels of a higher status. Sometimes the only difference between 3-star and 5-star hotels is in the size of the rooms. Prices vary, of course, but you are unlikely to have

to pay more than 90 to 110 dollars a night for a 3-star hotel in Moscow. In addition, most of the hotels offer a variety of discounts, special offers and promotions: outside the peak periods of New Year and the three summer months some amazing reductions (скидки) are available, sometimes up to 50-60%.
