MY INSTITUTE

The South-Russia State Technical University (NPI) is one of the oldest country’s higher educational institutions. It was founded in 1907. Studying at our University gives a solid background in all spheres of knowledge and prepares for practical work.

The Shakhty Institute of the South- Russia State Technical University was founded in 1958. First it had only one faculty and trained specialists for the mining industry. Nowadays it is a large educational institution. 2500 students study here. The majority of them are full-time students and the rest are part-time students. There are also post- graduate students. They conduct independent research work and have pedagogical practice.

The course of study at the Institute lasts 5 years for full-time students and 6 years for part-time students. Each academic year consists of two terms. At the end of each term students take credit tests and examinations. There are 5 faculties at the Institute: Mining and Construction, Mechanics and Technology, Humanities and Economics, Additional education, Extra-mural Studies and Distance Learning.

Our Institute is housed in a very beautiful building. There are many large lecture halls there as well as rooms for practical, seminars, and all kinds of laboratories with modern equipment, a gym and a sports ground. We have a library and a reading hall at the Institute.

There is also a dormitory (hostel building) where students from other cities live. There are 2 cafes at the Institute. The food there is tasty and very affordable.

Our students have all the opportunities for study and rest. They have all the opportunities to become good specialists. After graduating from the Institute young specialists work in offices, plants, factories, mines.
