The house I would like to live in

My home (Мой дом)

 

There are three rooms, a hall, a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and balcony in my flat. When you enter my flat, you appear in a long hall where you can find a set of wardrobes and a big mirror.
On the right hand there is a kitchen. Our kitchen is not very big but it is very cozy. There you can find all the appliances you need in a modern kitchen. There is a fridge, a gas cooker, a microwave, a mixer, a coffee maker and so on. Also there is modern furniture, a kitchen table and four chairs. The walls are decorated with pictures. There is a big window in the kitchen and that’s why this room is always full of sunlight.
Going along the hall, you will enter a living room. This room is my father’s favourite. He likes to have a rest there, lying on the sofa and watching TV. There is a set of wardrobes and bookcases on the right side of the room. On the left side there is a sofa, two armchairs and a table between them. Also there is a big TV set in front of the sofa. There is a big window in this room. My mother likes plants very much and that’s why this room and the balcony are full of plants.
Next to the living-room you can find a children’s room. It used to be my sister’s and my room but as my sister lives separately, this room is mine now. This is the smallest room in the flat. There is a wardrobe, a sofa, a bookcase, a desk with a computer. There is a fluffy carpet on the floor.
Our bathroom is painted in white colours. The toilet-room is really very small. There is nothing except a toilet and a small cabinet next to it.
So, let’s move to the last room in my flat. It is at the end of the hall on your left hand. This is my parents’ room. There is a double-bed, two bedside cabinets and a big wardrobe in this room. It is painted in warm colours and it is always a pleasure to rest there, reading a book or watching TV, which is on the wall.
As they say, “My home is my castle”. So my home is a real castle for me and I don’t want to have another one.

House of My Dream

Everyone likes dreaming. Dream is a hope for better things. It helps us to overcome the difficulties of our daily routine. A dream depends on people, on their education, nationality, character and other things. People imagine they have a lot of money, own family, an expensive car. Other people imagine themselves to be presidents of different countries or whole planets, etc.

I'd like to tell you about the house of my dream. I'd like to have my own house on the bank of a beautiful river with crystal water, surrounded by high mountains, covered with green forest of evergreen trees.

I would live there with my wife and two children. I imagine my house to be a 2 storeyed building. Near the front side it has a facade with columns and steps up to the front door. There are also two balconies and a terrace in my house. The windows are in the shape of arches. Through them you can see a wonderful landscape. There are lots of fir trees and flowers around the house. And you can walk in the shade of these trees listening to the birds singing.

As you come through the front door, you find yourself in a large hall with an open fireplace. One of the doors leads to the living room. This room faces the south, so it's very sunny and has a lovely view of the whole valley. In the middle of this room there's a thick Persian carpet.

There are few units of furniture in this room. On the left there's a leather sofa and small table nearby, on the right you can see home cinema and satellite receiver. There are two armchairs in the corner of this room. In the living room we spend our evenings chatting with each other, children play with a kitten.

Then a wide staircase takes you to the first floor where there are four bedrooms. My children's rooms are really vast. The wallpapers are very colourful in bright shapes. Also there are lots of toys to play with.

In the basement there is a big garage for our cars. We have got two cars: one for me and one for my wife.

Behind the house there is a swimming bath, covered with glass. There are some plastic armchairs around the swimming bath. Our house looks peaceful and calm and the calmest room is my study. Next door to the study there is our library. It is a huge room with thousands books on history, astronomy, physics, science fictions, fantasy, poetry, etc. Someone might think that it is an antagonism, because everything we want to read we can receive via Internet, but I like real books, to handle them in my hands, to read them page by page. As for my children, they prefer associating with their friends.

We have many different electrical appliances in our house. They make our life more comfortable. Also we have some robots to help us. They look after the house, grow vegetables in our garden and involved in cooking. So, we enjoy having greens and fresh vegetables on our dinner table during long winters. Our house is a beautiful place at any time of the year. In winter it's warm and cozy, in summer there is so much to do outside.

The house I would like to live in

I live in a block of flats. I often think about an ideal house I would live in. There would be many rooms in the house of my dream. There might be two or even three balconies in the house. All the rooms would be properly furnished and supplied with necessary technical appliances: TV-sets, musical centre, computer with an access to Internet and air conditioners. The house would have all modern conveniences: running cold and hot water, electricity and gas. Instead of the central heating, each room would have a fireplace that would heat the air in cold winter and autumn months. I also dream about a small swimming pool and a large grassy playground. In summer I would invite my friends and relatives to visit me and spend a good time together, swimming in the pool, playing badminton or golf. After this we would sunbathe and drink fresh cocktails. I also would like to have a green-house on the territory. I would keep rare plants from all over the world and take care of them there. In the future when I grow up, graduate from the university and get a well-paid job, I'll definitely buy the house I'm dreaming about now.

I think, every person always dreams about the place where he can speak about his problems, chat with close friends, where he can feel happy and quiet. For me it is my family and my home. It is the best place in the world and my dearest people live here. My family is not large we are 4. I have a father, a mother and a brother. We all live together in a new flat. Though it is not very big, I like this cosy place most of all on the earth. Here I feel protected from all the troubles, I know that I'll be understood. To my mind, all this is due to my parents.

My father is quiet and hardworking. Really, he is a bread maker of the family. Dad is handy with many things. His hobby is fixing everything at home. My mother is very lively. She is life and soul of the family. My brother is only 11. He goes to school. He is funny and curious. He is constantly asking many questions often silly ones. But this only a moment - I can't imagine my life without our little monster.

We all feel happy when we are together. In the evenings we often have little gatherings in the kitchen by the cup of tea, chatting, laughing and discussing the events of the day. Those evening are the best of all. But sometimes I have problems with my parents. Sometimes they don't like the clothes I wear the music I listen to and the friends I bring home. It's not easy to be a teenager. My parents are hardworking. They combine work with housekeeping. Mum manages our household very well. We all are in the habit of helping her to run the house. My home is a cosy place.

Lifestyle

“My personal lifestyle”

I don’t have a particular style of life. I just try to live healthy. And although I don’t like sports, but I understand that it is necessary for a healthy life. I like to spend time with my family close friends. I like to read novels about love and watch movies. Sometimes my life seems boring to me, but I think it’s normal for everyone of us.

Also I try to eat healthy food. Eating right means staying on a healthy diet. This does not mean that you cannot eat sweets or fatty foods, it just means that you should constantly keep in mind how a certain food will affect your body. One wants to always remain in control, do not gorge yourself and then skip a few meals to make up for it. Always keep things in proportion, such as maybe eating a light healthy breakfast and lunch and then allowing yourself a slightly heavier food for dinner or for snack. Remember, this does not mean that you must become a health-food nut it is simply a reminder that you should exercise some control over your food intake.

The Only Child in a Family

So, I’m the only child in the family and I like it. Of course I’m spoilt a little but it doesn’t disturb me.

The attention is all mine, consequently I’m the apple of my parent’s eyes. I feel lucky, and my friends are jealous because of my single state, particularly because I don’t have to share a bedroom. It’s an advantage. You get undivided attention from your parents. Being alone made me close to animals but it also made me quite demanding. If you don’t have sisters or brothers you need friends and so I tried hard to make them, I am good at making them still and such experience is very useful nowadays.

It may be true that an only child is spoilt, but, believe me, there are occasions on which you wish there was a brother or sister to share problems, but when you solve you problems yourself you tend to become strong and rational person, and it’s better to spend more time in the company of adults than with your contemporaries.

I’ve seen a lot of big families where were two or more children in a family and most of my friends have brothers or sisters. And I didn’t make up my mind and think that it’s better to be the only child then the other way round. I suppose that only people who have a good financial situation or are rich can afford more than one child. Cause in the other way they’ll make a great mistake.

Most of specialists suppose that only in a family with one child a real leader can be born and educate.

In the former situation parents usually believe in his possibilities, praise him for small successes and reward his good deeds. Thus he becomes self-centered and conceited. He is greedy for money.

In the latter situation parents are overprotective, underestimating their child’s skills and talents and often criticizing his efforts to be independent. Thus he is not sure of his real value.

His start into adult life seems to be easier when we take into consideration welfare, comfort and living standards. But from the point of view of maturity his start is more difficult as he becomes independent later than his friends of the same age and sometimes cannot solve simple problems at work because so far his parents have always done it for him.

Responsible parents should know that family is the first little community where the personality of a child develops and if there are more than three in the family the children can learn in a more natural and easy way how to cope with every day problems and learn to compromise in an argument, as well as understand others and love them. It is much more difficult to bring up the only child as the process of teaching him the terms of living in a society is rather artificial. In their books, educational films, and therapy meetings, psychologists give a lot of positive evidence that multi-children families provide a better psychological and socially healthier environment for development.

The parents’ effort to rear their children is rewarded when the children grow up. And when the parents are old it is impossible to be forgotten – form the bunch of kids there is at least one or two who will always remember to hasten with assistance to their loving parents.

In my mind, global warming is the most important problem of nowadays, because it could be the cause of other problems. Global Warming effects on the natural balance of environment. The world climate is going a significant change day by day.

There are many causes of Global Warming. The destruction and burning down of tropical forests, traffic clogging up the city streets, rapid growth of unplanned industries, etc.

All species are important for maintaining ecological balance. If one is lost, the whole natural environment changes. To prevent the dangerous effects of Global Warming necessary steps should immediately be taken.

I think, people are responsible for solving whole these problems. People should not be allowed to cut off trees which causes deforestation. Rather they should be advised and suggested to plant more and more trees in accordance with their capability and convenience. Forests also control the natural balance. People should be made aware of it. Mills, factories, brick-fields should be set up in a very good planned way. There should be well drainage system to pass away waste materials, wastages and poisonous chemicals.

Unless Global Warming is not controlled, no men, animals will be able to live, grow and thrive. So, we should try maintain the ecological balance to decrease the effects of Global Warming.
