Our University

Kharkiv National Agrarian University named after V.V. Dokuchayev was founded in 1816 by the decree of the Russian Emperor Alexander I in Marimont near Warsaw (in Poland). It became the first agrarian higher educational establishment in the Russian Empire.

The most productive period of the University was when the Russian professor V.V. Dokychayev headed it. The University is known for the research activities of such outstanding scientists as: G.F. Naumov, V.I. Byeliayev, M.M. Kuleshov, A.N. Sokolovskyi, etc.

Nowadays the Agrarian University is a modern educational, scientific and productive complex. It is a member of the International University Association.

The university takes an active part in the international relations to support and develop educational, professional, scientific and research programs of cooperation.

The university trains specialists of agricultural production at the following departments: agronomical department, agrochemical and soil science department, department of management and economics, land organization department, departament of forestry, department of accounting and finance, plant protection department.

The best university lecturers often go abroad to get educational experience and study. A lot of foreign scientific specialists take part in the mutual scientific activities.

Every year some students of our university have their agricultural practice on the farms of the Western Europe.

Nowadays a lot of foreign students from different countries of the world study at our university.

The university provides for a post-graduate course.

There is a big library at our university which comprises more than 600 thousand books, journals, booklets, dictionaries, etc.

The modern design and equipment enable to hold solemn meetings, scientific conferences and the concerts of students` amateur performance in the university assembly hall.

The university possesses an educational and training farm, 2 experimental fields and a dendrological park. The latter has about 765 plant species, 152 varieties and hybrids. It is an educational and scientific base of the university and a beautiful place to have rest in.

Our University is one of the most significant agrarian higher educational establishments in Ukraine training specialists for our agriculture.
