Подлежащее отсутствует, сказуемое стоит в самом начале предложения, обычно сопровождается прямым дополнением.

Иногда перед сказуемым может стоять обстоятельство, которое выражено либо наречием, либо группой слов с предлогом

1) При наличии двух сомнительных форм, та после, которой стоит дополнение с предлогом by, обычно причастие в роли определения

· The student asked by the teacher answered well.

 

2) Если в предложении есть явное сказуемое, то сомнительная форма является причастием в роли определения к тому существительному, после которого оно стоит.

· The article translated last week was difficult.

· A scale attached to this prism indicates the number of degrees.

· Terminals placed in public places are used continuously.

 

3) Если после сомнительной формы стоит прямое (беспредложное дополнение), то это – сказуемое.

· Carrier current superimposed on the protected line at frequencies of 80 to 500 kc/s formed the channel of communication.

· In this model the analyst used the data stored on the Monitor Server’s database.

 

4) Eсли перед сомнительной формой стоит личное местоимение и именительном падеже, которое не отделяется запятой (явное подлежащее), то это – сказуемое.
