It's Saturday morning and Mrs. Smith is going shopping.
Mrs S: John, I'm going to the shops. Is there anything you want?
John: Yes please! Can you pick up my magazine from the newsagents?
Mrs S: Of course. Do you want to come with me?
John: No way, I'm going round to Mike's house, sorry.
Mrs S: No problem. I'll be about an hour, be home by 5 o'clock at the latest.
John: O.K. I'll see you later.
A bit later......
Mrs S: John are you home?
John Yes mum, I'm up stairs.
Mrs S: Come down here, I bought you a new Nike T-shirt, I want you to try it on.
John Nike? Great I'm coming!
A few minutes later.....
Mrs S: Well, does it fit?
John I think it's a bit too small.
Mrs S: Let's have a look. Hmmm, I think you've grown again!
John I can't wear it though.
Mrs S: Do you like it?
John Yeah, it's a nice colour.
Mrs S: I'll take it back to the supermarket and see if I can change it.

Mrs Smith had bought a nice new T-shirt for John, but when he tried it on it didn't fit.

It's Saturday evening and Mrs Smith has to return the T-shirt.
Mrs S: Excuse me, can you help me?
Shop Assistant Yes of course, what can I do for you?
Mrs S: I bought this T-shirt for my son this afternoon, but it doesn't fit him, it's too small.
Shop Assistant Do you want to change it or get a refund.
Mrs S: I'd like to change it for a larger size. Do you have these in large?
Shop Assistant I'll just check. Let's see, yes we have large or extra large, which would you prefer?
Mrs S: I think large will be fine, it's for my son.
Shop Assistant That's fine, if it doesn't fit just bring it back again. If you take it to the customer service desk, they'll sort it all out for you.
Mrs S: Thank you. Just as a matter of interest do you give refunds?
Shop Assistant Yes, of course. You can bring any clothing items back up to three weeks after purchase, but you must keep the reciept.
Mrs S: I see, thanks again.
Shop Assistant: You're welcome.

ANTIBIOTICS

Antibiotics are powerful medicines that fight bacterial infections. Used properly, antibiotics can save lives. They either kill bacteria or keep them from reproducing. Your body's natural defenses can usually take it from there.

Antibiotics are among the most frequently prescribed medications in modern medicine. Antibiotics cure disease by killing or injuring bacteria. The first antibiotic was penicillin, discovered accidentally from a mold culture. Today, over 100 different antibiotics are available to cure minor, as well as life-threatening infections.

Although antibiotics are useful in a wide variety of infections, it is important to realize that antibiotics only treat bacterial infections. Antibiotics are useless against viral infections (for example, the common cold) and fungal infections (such as ringworm). Your doctor can best determine if an antibiotic is right for your condition.

Antibiotics do not fight infections caused by viruses, such as

Colds

Flu

Most coughs and bronchitis

Sore throats, unless caused by strep

If a virus is making you sick, taking antibiotics may do more harm than good. Each time you take antibiotics, you increase the chances that bacteria in your body will be able to resist them. Later, you could get or spread an infection that those antibiotics cannot cure. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) causes infections that are resistant to several common antibiotics.

When you take antibiotics, follow the directions carefully. It is important to finish your medicine even if you feel better. If you stop treatment too soon, some bacteria may survive and re-infect you. Do not save antibiotics for later or use someone else's prescription.

I don't buy ______________ that often unless I need them for an event or university event or something. Jewelry I love to buy.

Mark, United States
I guess like a lot of guys I don't usually like shopping. I'd rather go to the store, know what I want to get, go in, get that thing, buy it and get out. If I got a lot of ______________, I guess it would be nice to kind of stroll around and shop some but still, I just, usually I'd rather be ______________and just go buy what I want and get out so I'm not a really big fan of shopping.

Jeanie, United States
OK, what do I think about shopping? I really ______________shopping. I'm usually very easily bored with buying things. I try to make really quick decisions, the only exception being with jewelry because it always ______________, and then I end up spending too much money, so yes, shopping is definitely not a thing I like to do very often.

Jim, England
So I ______________shopping. Don't like it at all. The only time I really go shopping is when I go to the super market to get some food or some supplies. I try to avoid clothes shopping because I find it so boring and I tend to rely on my girlfriend or my mother to buy me clothes, which is a little bit sad.

Eucharia, Ireland
I go shopping ______________. In Ireland there are many charity shops, with kind of once worn, or unwanted gift type dresses, so I really like shopping there for really exotic dresses, and when I go shopping, the one time in the year I go shopping I have to think about clothes to wear for distinct ______________ of the year, so it's quite a challenge. I go shopping usually to just normal middle of the road type places, but I really, really like shoe shopping.

Alan, Canada
What do I think about shopping? Well, I don't really go shopping unless I have to as far was when I buy clothes or things that I need for the house. If I need them, I will go out and buy them, but I don't really like to browse and look around too much, ______________, anything like that. I do however do enjoy food shopping. I enjoy that. Wife: We need some refried beans for tostados. I think it’s on aisle 3.
Husband: Here it is. Oh look, do you want to get some jalapeño’s?
Wife: Are you nuts? Those things will set my mouth on fire. Let’s go to the produce section, we need fruit
for the kids’ lunches.
Husband: How about these apples?
Wife: I don’t think they want apples. Last time we bought them they were mealy, and they refused to eat
them. These grapes look good. How many should I get?
Husband: Get two bunches, no three. I’ll eat some for a snack.
Wife: OK, on to the meat section. You wanted some hamburger, right?
Husband: Yes, get about three pounds. Be sure it’s lean. Do we still have plenty of bacon and sausage
for breakfast.
Wife: Yes, but that reminds me, we have no eggs. We should get 2 cartons.
Wife: We need milk, right?
Husband: Yes, on to the dairy section. Here’s the milk. Get a gallon jug.
Husband: Do we need any cheese?
Wife: Yes, we’ll need some for the pizza on Tuesday. Get two large packages. Do we have everything?
Husband: I need some shaving cream and razor blades. Which way to the health and beauty section?
Wife: It’s to the right, three aisles down.
Husband: I just thought of something else. We need some bread and pastry.
Wife: The bakery is that way. How many loaves should we get?
Husband: One loaf of whole wheat and one loaf of sour dough. And a dozen croissants.
Wife: That’s everything. Let’s go to the checkout.

CELLS

The cell (from Latin cella, meaning "small room") is the basic structural, functional and biological unit of all know living organisms. Cells are the smallest unit of life that can replicate independently, and are often called the "building blocks of life". The study of cells is called cell biology.

Cells consist of a protoplasm enclosed within a membrane, which contains many biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. Organisms can be classified as unicellular (consisting of a single cell; including most bacteria) or multicellular (including plants and animals). While the number of cells in plants and animals varies from species to species, humans contain about 100 trillion cells. Most plant and animal cells are visible only under the microscope, with dimensions between 1 and 100 micrometres.

The cell was discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665. The cell theory, first developed in 1839 by Matthias Jakob Schleidenand Theodor Schwann, states that all organisms are composed of one or more cells, that all cells come from preexisting cells, that vital functions of an organism occur within cells, and that all cells contain the hereditary information necessary for regulating cell functions and for transmitting information to the next generation of cells. Cells emerged on Earth at least 3.5 billion years ago.
