London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and commercial centre. It's one of the largest cities in the world and the largest city in Europe. Its population is about 8 million.

London is one of the mqet interesting cities in the world.

Traditionally it's divided into several parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End. They are different from each other and seem to belong to different towns and epochs.

The heart of London is the City, its financial and business centre. Numerous banks, offices and firms are situated there, including the Bank of England and the Stock Exchange...

Westminster is the historic, the governmental part of London. Westminster Abbey has more historic associations than any other building in Britain. Nearly all English kings and queens have been crowned here. Many outstanding statesmen, scientists, writers and poets were buried here: Newton, Darwin, Chaucer, Dickens...

Across the road from Westminster Abbey is Westminster Palace, or the House of Parliament, the Seat of the British Parliament...

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Queen.

The West End is the richest and most beautiful part of London. It's the symbol of wealth and luxury. This is where Londoners come to enjoy themselves. There are 2 opera houses, several concert halls and many theatres, as well as cinemas. In nearby Soho pubs, restaurants and night clubs are busy half the night...

I. It has always been my dream to visit London! First of all, I know that London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. More than that, it!s one of the largest cities in the world and the largest city in Europe. So, I want to visit this old and interesting city very much. Not long ago, / got to know that London is divided into 4 parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End. It was surprising for me to get to know that, they're very different from each other and seem to belong to different towns and epochs. Isn't it amasing?

You see, / can't understand those people whospend their time on visiting shops and restaurants while travelling. I'm interested in history, that's why I wouldvisit Westminster first of all. It's the historic and the governmental part of London. Can you imagine that nearly all English kings and queens have been married in Westminster Abbey! And not only that, many outstanding statesmen, scientists, writers and poets are buried here: Newton, Darwin, Chaucer, Dickens and others. Of course, I wouldn't miss a chance to seetheHouses of Parliament, the seat of the British Parliament and Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the Queen.
