Many of us have pets – dogs and cats. They are like members of our family. In England many years ago farmers displaced the same love for their horses. Some farmers even decorated their horses with flowers. Robbin, Dobbin and Hobbin were the names which farmers gave to their horses most often. The name Hobbin was changed into Hobby and became the word used for toy horses. And only many years later the word " hobby" began to be used in its modern meaning – " something that you do in your free time". Many people have different hobbies now.

Ukrainian teenagers gather in smaller or larger companies usually called " tusovka" and walk together, discuss different things, especially personal relations and life. They like to organize parties and celebrate holidays or birthdays. Many young people understand that their better future depends on good education. So they attend additional classes, do some extra activities which can help to train or educate in something.

Television takes a lot of free time too. It can be both useful and harmful. Teenagers are different in their tastes, style of life and views. And these points make them more interesting. Looking for Names.

Forty years ago Gordon Alford was on holiday when he decided to ask some famous footballers for their signatures. Since that time he has collected 7000 autographs of famous people. He has special albums for them. Most of his autographs are from famous actors, musicians, athletes. Some autographs are worth a lot of money. Photography as a Hobby.

I'd like to give you some advice about my hobby. I'm sure many of you already use a camera. But you can only call it your hobby if you do it all year. not just at weekends. It needn`t be an expensive hobby. Cheap cameras can take wonderful pictures. Buying, developing and printing film can cost a lot, so be careful you don’t overspent your budget. You will also need something to keep your photos in. You don’t need any special training to take successful photograph. But remember some simple rules. Don’t aim the camera into the sun. Make sure your subject fills the picture. Finally, hold the camera tight. Not all your pictures will be brilliant, but they will be special. They will also be wonderful memory when you get older.

Are You Completely Bananas?

Eccentric as it may seem the latest new hobby to catch on in Britain involves collecting the tiny sticky labels that come attached to bananas. And the world leader in the fast growing craze is a 52 – year old government officer from London called John Stather who has travelled round the world in search of unusual stickers. John first became interested in the hobby four years ago. While on a trip abroad, he promised he would collect any stickers he saw for a friend who had started to collect them. Suddenly he found himself getting hooked on the pastime too. John now has over one thousand different stickers and his collection is still growing.

Anyone who might be tempted to laugh at John should remember that his hobby is not expensive and he gets to eat lots of fruit in the process.

My Hobbies.

I have some free time not only on Sundays and on my holidays, but also on weekdays. And as soon as I have a spare minute, I devote it to my hobbies. Tastes differ. Different people like different things, different people have different hobbies. I have four hobbies, so to speak. They are reading, listening to music, computer and going in for sports.

As for reading, I enjoy it very much. And it doesn't matter what kind of book it is. It can be a collection of short stories, an interesting novel or a book of poems. I equally enjoy them all. But there's one thing that matters. When I choose a book for reading, it shouldn't be dull but interesting. But I highly appreciate only those books that can teach me something or can make me think about the problem, raised in the book.

Speaking about music I can't help saying that music is an essential part of my daily life. I live with music. I'm reading, doing homework, morning exercises, and work about the house to music. I'm fond of modern music and I can't point out one certain style of music, I enjoy them all, including pop, rock, metal, techno, rave, rap, hip-hop and others. I'm also fond of different ballads because they are very melodious and tender.

In my daily life I use computer technologies that help me to be in course of all events in the world thanks for Internet. Computer helps me to make reports and homework. I write small computer programs, collect CD, when I have free time I like discover Internet.

Besides, I go in for sports. I go to the swimming pool twice a week, but I prefer to rest by the lake or river and swim there. I also attend volleyball, basketball and table tennis sections. As for me sport helps me to keep fit and always to be in good shape. I can't imagine my life without sport.

So, I think that my leisure time is quite variable. I'm not bored and always have a good mood.

My Hobby.

Tastes differ. Different people like different things, different people have different hobbies. I go in for sports, I like to play tennis. I go to play tennis every day.

Sport is a very important part of our life. Many people go in for sports; they are jogging, walking, swimming, skating, skiing, train themselves in clubs and different sections. Physical training is an important subject at school. Pupils play volleyball, football, basketball. 1 have been playing tennis for 5 years. Tennis became very popular now. I take part in different competitions.

To be in a good shape I jog every morning and do my morning exercises. Everyone should do all he can to stay healthy and choose the sport he is interested in. I do not understand people who say that they like sport, but they only watch sport on TV. If one goes in for sports he feels much better, looks much better, sleeps much better. Your physical appearance will change too. You will be slimmer. And what is even more important you will not get sick often.

Why do I go in for sports? Because I think that it is very important for a man to be strong and well-built. Sport is not for weak, because, you have to learn how to lose, and it's not easy. My favourite proverb is:" A sound mind in a sound body".

My Hobby.

I have a lot of hobbies because there are so many interesting things to do. Unfortunately I don't have much spare time as I'm going to be a student that's why I have to study a lot. I like doing different things, such as reading detective novels, listening to the music, playing tennis with my classmates. But my favourite hobby is solving crossword puzzles. It's not only interesting, but also useful. When you try to solve the puzzle, you find out and learn a lot of different facts. Because in puzzles there are questions about famous people, geographical places, countries, scientific achievements and so on. You also train your brain. There are different types of crossword puzzles. They are Scandinavian, English, Hungarian, Japanese, ordinary. The crosswords are published in newspapers and magazines and there are special newspapers that contain only crosswords. I sometimes try to make up my own puzzle and I can say that it is not less interesting. All the members of our family like to take part in solving puzzles, and this unites us very much.
