Цілі уроку

Практичні:

- ознайомити учнів з державою Об’єднане Королівство Великої Британії та Північної Ірландії, її частинами, національними символами та святами;

- формувати навички читання вголос з повним розумінням прочитаного;

- удосконалювати навички діалогічного мовлення шляхом створення міні діалогів на основі контролю домашнього завдання.

Освітні:

- формувати уявлення учнів про держави світу, де розмовляють англійською мовою;

- розширювати лінгвістичний кругозір учнів.

Розвиваюча:

- розвивати кмітливість, пам'ять, увагу, логічне мислення, інтелектуальну гнучкість учнів;

- розвивати вміння логічно й послідовно викладати свої думки;

- розвивати в учнів готовність до участі в іншомовному спілкуванні.

Виховна:

- виховувати в учнів культуру спілкування, яка прийнята в сучасному цивілізованому світі;

- виховувати в учнів розуміння важливості оволодіння іноземною мовою і потреби користуватися нею як засобом спілкування.

The official name of Great Britain is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the UK). The country consists of 4 parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each part has its own capital, national symbols and holidays.

The flag of Great Britain is called the Union Jack. It is made of 3 crosses: red, white and blue. Each country has its own colour: England – white, Scotland – blue, Wales – red. These are used, for example, for football or rugby teams.

People in the UK are proud of their traditions. They are different in 4 parts of Great Britain. St. George’s Day is on April 23. It is an England’s national day. A red rose is the national emblem of England. St. Andrew’s Day (November 30) is a Scotland’s national day. On this day some Scots wear a thistle as a national emblem of Scotland. St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) is a national day in Northern Ireland. The national emblem of Northern Ireland is a shamrock. St. David’s Day (March 1) is a national day of Wales. The national emblem of Wales is daffodil. These are only some facts about national symbols and holidays of Great Britain.

6. Контроль розуміння прочитаного (робота в групах). Чотирьом групам пропонуються картки зі словами. Ці слова потрібно згрупувати відповідно до ключового слова, яке надруковано іншим кольором та записати в зошити.

- формувати уявлення учнів про столицю держави, де розмовляють англійською мовою;

- розширювати лінгвістичний кругозір учнів.

2. Мовленнєва зарядка: Jumbled words (d, e, g, a, l, n, n – England; n, t, s, o, a, c, l, d – Scotland; s, w, l, a, e – Wales; l, n, r, i, a, e, d – Ireland; n, r, t, t, i, i, d, a, o – tradition; l, h, i, e, t, s, t - thistle). Make sentences with these words.

3.1. Listen to the text and do the tasks:

Ann and Andy are sister and brother. They both go to school. When they come home after school, they like to play. They like to play at travelling. They imagine that they are in different countries and see some interesting sights. Usually they take a map and make plans for their journeys.

This time they travelled to Great Britain. They put an armchair in the middle of the room. They imagined that it was an airplane. They “landed” in London. London is the capital of Great Britain. It is a very big city. More than 11 million people live in it.

Andy told Ann about the places of interest in London. He told Ann about the museum the Guinness World of Records. Here you can see a lot of very interesting and unusual things: the tallest man in the world, Robert Wadlow, who was an amazing 2.72 m tall; the largest animal in the world, the blue whale, which was 33.58 m long, weighed 190 tonnes; the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, which is 8,863 m high.

Then Andy told Ann about Trafalgar Square. There is the Nelson Column in this square. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. His ships won many victories for England. There are many pigeons in Trafalgar Square.

When Ann and Andy’s journey was over, the children sat down to learn their lessons.
