International exhibition, what would you choose? Why? Use specific reasonsand details to explain your choice.

1. Each country has its certain symbol. Were I to choose one thing to represent my country Vietnam to an international exhibition, I would not hesitate to choose "TRE", or bamboo, the symbol of our homecountry and our people.
Bamboo has been the symbol of the Vietnamese country for centuries. Almost every village here has its own clumps of bamboo, sometimes they are the border of two villages. On their way home after a hard working day bending double over the plants on sun-exposing paddies, farmers find themselves relaxing under the shadow of green bamboo clusters, chatting to each other. You also can find farm children playing countless games there. Bamboo is the nearest and dearest plant to Vietnamese farmers, who make up eighty five percent of the nation's population.
Not only that, bamboo is also the embodiment of peace here. Could you imagine a more placid image than that of a grandmother, with a made-from-bamboo-coat fan in one hand, the other rubbing the grandson's forehead, softly lulling the child, who is turning into sweet sleep on a hammock under the green green shade of a bamboo clump?
Moreover, bamboo seems to be the nicest symbol of Vietnamese people. The assiduousness of the farmers is always compared with that of the bamboo, a plant that can grow anywhere, under any weather despite the poverty of mother land. And "MANG", or young "TRE", is the embodiment of children. We have a traditional cap only for children, which is made based on the shape of "MANG". This is also the logo of a popular publisher that only publishes books for children.
Besides all of its emotional meanings, bamboo is also popular for its high application in life. In the deadly wars here, bamboo is sharpened to be a primitive weapon and its leaves can be used to disguise soldiers. But now that we are living in peace, bamboo is still important in our normal life. Its trunk is cut to make fences or fishing rod. Its leaves can be used as fire material for stoves. And especially carving bamboo trunks or feet truly became a unique art and gives rise to traditional career villages, which provide jobs for thousands of people.
All above are the reasons why I think a model of bamboo would be the most suitable representative for my country. I am sure this would also be the choice of many other Vietnamese people once they were asked.

2. Every country has its own symbol which is associated with the culture, the people and the country itself. My country is Russia. Very often my Motherland is associated with matryoshka dolls, bears and balalaikas. Meanwhile, Russia has a long history and a great culture. If I were asked to choose one thing representing my country, I’d choose The Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow.
I can explain my choice the following way. Russia is a big polyethnic country. It’s obviously very hard to keep all the parts together, because every area is unique and specific. We all have various views, customs, beliefs and sometimes even languages. And very often we belong to different nations. To my mind the greatest thing that can unite the population of such a big country is a sense of patriotism. It makes us forget the matter of nations, languages and other differences. We all feel like a whole country.
And the best example of such a phenomena we can see in the World War II. A really great number of Russian people (and not only warriors) died then in the name of their Motherland. They didn’t care about the differences, they protected their native country and its population. And it became the earnest of the greatest victory in the history of the world.
Nowadays the national situation in many polyethnic countries is not easy. And, unfortunately, Russia belongs to this list. And I’m pretty sure that the example of our forefathers will help us to solve this problem. And I consider The Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to be a symbol of national unity of the parts of Russia, in spite of all the differences we have, a symbol of the great victory of the great country and a tribute to the memory of those whose names are unknown, whose deeds are immortal.
