Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

 

Alligators and crocodiles have been considered villainous, man-eating monsters for centuries, but this was not always the case. Many tall tales have been told about these giant reptiles with long tails. This is partly due to the fact that crocodiles and alligators have truly ancient roots, going all the way back to when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. It is generally believed that these reptiles are about as close as we will ever get to seeing a living dinosaur. The two animals are often confused, but visually crocodiles and alligators are quite different, as they belong to different biological families. There is a general size difference between the two, with crocodiles being a lot longer than alligators. Crocodiles can also move much faster and they are much more bad-tempered: they are far more likely to attack humans, even if they are unprovoked.
