General Summary

ECD (Enterprise Content Division), a division of Dell EMC, is the market leader in Enterprise Content Management platforms. The division is seeking an experienced software engineer who shares our passion for developing and maintaining the Captiva product line. 

 

Working under limited direction and within general practices, provides technical expertise by independently determining and developing approaches to solutions for a wide range of complex software engineering problems. Working in collaboration with QA, technical writers, support engineers, and other engineering teams worldwide. Understands company goals and practices and applies them when resolving a variety of problems. Uses judgment and creativity and technical expertise to obtain, recommend and implement solutions. Assignments may include new products as well as upgrades, and enhancements or fixes to existing products.

 

· Develops solutions to complex problems, which require frequent use of ingenuity and creativity. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, without appreciable direction. Offers proposed changes/suggestions to processes and products, exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of an assignment.

 

· Understands and adheres to cost/delivery/quality targets established during regression and testing phases.

 

· Software development expertise from a coding perspective. This is required for building test automation. Contributes to test automation activities through knowledge of coding/programming in current languages.

 

· Customer and EMC field facing White Paper development based on QA engineering findings and analysis

 

· Interacts cross functionally on matter that requires coordination across organization lines. Sphere of influence likely to extend outside of the organization.

 

· High level of proficiency in all necessary processes, applications, and tools. Demonstrates knowledge of project management, able to identify business impact of proposed projects and designs. Demonstrates skill with development of new theories and methods related to testing.

 

· Collaborates well with other engineers and other engineering groups, and voluntarily shares information. May be accountable for overall product and/or serve as a customer advocate. May represent the organization as principal customer contact. Significant contributor to organizational goals and objectives.

 

· Authors and executes test cases and testing methodology for manual and/or automated tests.

 

· Full understanding of overall business and competitive environment, including mission and strategic direction of the organization. Ability to lead people, projects, and operations.
