A. Please have your documents notarized and get a consular confirmation. Or, you may send us a certified true copy of your apostilled documents if you need to keep your original document. Please have the documents certified from the institution where you issued the apostille or from the Korean Consulate/Embassy.

A. Embassy track applicants should submit ONE set of original application document (that includes apostilled/consular-confirmed documents) and THREE sets of photocopied application documents. This means embassy track applicants do not need to have their certificates authenticated four times.

Q. How should I submit translated document with apostille?

A. All application documents that are not written in Korean or English must be accompanied with a certified translation. If you can only get an apostille/consular-confirmation on your original document, then please submit it with a certified translation. The certified translation does not need to be apostilled/consular-confirmed.

번역공증본을 어떻게 아포스티유 받아 제출하나요?

한국어나 영어로 작성되지 않은 모든 서류들은 번역공증본과 함께 제출해야 합니다. 원어로 작성된 서류에만 아포스티유/영사확인이 가능하다면 해당 서류와 함께 번역 공증본을 추가로 제출해 주시기 바랍니다. 추가 제출하는 번역공증은 아포스티유/영사확인을 받지 않아도 됩니다.

 

 

Q. Must I submit the certificates of language proficiency (English or Korean) when I apply for GKS?

A. The certificate of English proficiency (TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS) or Korean proficiency (TOPIK) is optional, which means you may apply for GKS without it. However, if you are an applicant of a highly competitive country or if you are applying to a certain department, you may be required for a certain level of language proficiency.

공인 언어능력시험 증명서 (영어, 한국어) 는 반드시 제출해야 합니까?

공인인증 영어능력시험 성적(TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS)과 한국어능력시험 성적(TOPIK)는 GKS 지원 시 필수제출 서류가 아니므로 언어능력시험 증명서 없이도 지원이 가능합니다. 다만, 경쟁률이 현저히 높은 국가의 한국대사관이나 특정 학과에서는 일정 수준 이상의 언어능력을 요구할 수 있습니다.

 

 

Q. I am planning to apply for 2022 GKS-G and I have already received a recommendation letter from my university’s professor in March 2021. Can I submit this recommendation letter?

A. The recommendation letter should be dated within a year from the very last date of the application deadline. Therefore, if your recommendation letter was issued more than a year from the 2022 GKS-G application submission deadline (set by each Korean embassy or university), you cannot submit that recommendation letter.

저는 2022 년 GKS-G 에 지원하고자 하는데 2021 년 3 월 미리 대학 교수님께 추천서를 받아 놓았습니다. 해당 추천서를 제출해도 됩니까?

추천서는 지원서류 마감일자를 기준으로 1년 이내에 작성된 것이어야 합니다. 만약 해당 추천서가 각 대사관/대학이 공지한 2022년 GKS-G 1차 지원서류 제출마감일로부터 1년 이상 지났다면 제출하실 수 없습니다.

Q. Should I include a detailed research proposal in the Study Plan?

A. Yes. You must at least describe the general direction and outlines of your study plans, if not in full detail. Please elaborate on your study objectives in Korea, tangible plans during and after you complete the degree program.

학업 계획서 (Study Plan) 에 구체적인 학업계획을 포함해야 합니까?

예, 구체적인 학업계획은 아니더라도 전체적인 학업계획은 제시해야 합니다. 한국에서의 학업 목표와 계획, 그리고 학업 후 계획 등을 제시하면 됩니다.

 

 

Q. I am a Chinese citizen. In the application guidelines, there is quota only assigned in the embassy track for the Chinese citizens. Does that mean that I must apply to the Korean Embassy in China?

A. No, if you are a Chinese citizen, you should not submit your application to the Korean Embassy in China. According to the mutual agreement between Korea and China, Chinese applicants must submit their applications to China Scholarship Council (CSC) under the Ministry of Education in China.

※ Likewise, a Czech citizen must also submit his or her application to the Ministry of Education in Czech Republic, in accordance with the mutual agreement between the governments of Korea and Czech Republic.

저는 중국 국적의 지원자입니다. 중국의 경우는 공관추천만 있는데, 그럼 중국에 있는 한국대사관에 지원을 합니까?

아닙니다. 중국은 한국과의 협정에 의해 중국 교육부에서 서류를 접수하여 1차 선발하도록 되어 있습니다. 그러므로 중국지원자들은 중국 교육부의 국가유학기금관리위원회(China Scholarship Council)로 지원해야 합니다.

※ 체코도 중국과 동일하게 체코 교육부에서 1차 선발을 하므로 체코 교육부로 서류를 제출해야 합니다.

 

Q. I am American living in Los Angeles, United States. I am going to apply for the program via the Korea Embassy. Should I submit my application to the Embassy in Washington D.C.?

A. You can submit your application to Korean Consulate nearby. In your case, you can submit your application to the Korean Consulate in LA. Korean embassy in Washington and several Korean consulates in the United States will cooperate to select the prospective candidates.

※ Embassy track applicants in Vietnam can also submit their application documents to Consulate/Embassy in Hanoi, Danang, or Ho Chi Minh.

저는 미국 LA 에 거주하고 있는 미국 시민입니다. 공관전형으로 지원하고 싶은데, 지원 서류를 워싱턴의 한국 대사관으로 제출해야 합니까?

미국의 경우, 거주 지역의 관할 한국 영사관에 지원 서류를 제출해도 됩니다. LA 거주자라면 LA 영사관으로 제출할 수 있습니다. 워싱턴의 한국대사관과 각 지역의 영사관이 협업하여 1차 심사를 진행합니다.
