Dear Sirs,

Your claim of August 20th in connection with the inferior quality of the goods shipped by s.s. Volga has been given our careful attention.

We have carefully studied the matter and admit that the quality of the goods is somewhat inferior to that of the sample on the basis of which we concluded the contract.

We are ready to meet your claim, but we consider tire compensation off... too high, as the difference in quality is very slight. We agree to pay to you £... as compensation for the substandard goods.

We hope, you will agree to our suggestion to have the claim settled in an amicable way.

Moscow

Dear Sirs,

We are forced to ask for your cooperation in respect of making amendments in shipment dates on our orders. Contract 137/125 stipulates that you are to deliver

the first lot of guitars by the 1 st December and the second lot early in the New Year. However we

now realize that if the first lot does not reach us by the 20 th November we shall fail to distribute the goods among our customers and consequently we may suffer losses. On the other hand we would ask you to postpone shipment of the second lot as there is great uncertainty over the government import charge. We assure you that this will be an exception and this forced delay will be cut to the absolute minimum.

Your cooperation would be appreciated.

Yours faithfully

They come up with an idea for a business and begin discussing the idea with professors, friends, and other business people. It is at this stage that the entrepreneur needs a bus iness plan. Busi ness plan is a detailed written statement that describes the nature of the business, the target market, the advantage the business will have in relation to competition, and the resources and qualifications of the owner (s).

A business plan is also mandatory for talking with bankers or other investors. To prepare a thorough plan, a person would most likely need the assistance of a good accountant. In general, a business plan should include the following:

1. A brief description of the industry and a detailed explanation of the products or services to be offered.

2. A thorough market analysis that discusses the size of market, the need for the new product (service), and the nature of the competition.

і 3. A marketing plan that includes location, signs, advertising, and display. 4. An operating plan that includes a sales forecast, financial projections, accounting procedures, and personal requirements.
