Тема 8. Узгодження часів.

УЗГОДЖЕННЯ ЧАСІВ

Узгодження часів виражає залежність присудка підрядного речення від присудка головного речення. Ця залежність дотримується в підрядних додаткових реченнях, коли присудок у головному реченні стоїть у минулому часі. У підрядних додаткових реченнях має місце така послідовність часів:

ü Форми Sіmple Past та Past Contіnuous вживаються для вираження тепе­рішнього періоду часу і перекладаються рідною мовою теперішнім часом.

I thought you were going to send the shipping documents on Friday. – Я думав, ви збираєтесь (а не збирались) відправити відвантажувальні документи в п'ятницю.

ü Форми Past Perfect уживаються для вираження минулого часу.

I didn't know that you had established contacts with the company. – Я не знав, що ви налагодили стосунки з цією компанією.

ü Форми Future-іn-the-Past (should для 1-ї особи однини й множини та would для решти в сполученні з інфінітивом смислового дієслова без частки to) вживається для вираження майбутньої дії.

I was sure they would start producing a new model following year. – Я був впевнений, що вони розпочнуть випуск нової моделі наступного року.

Слід запам'ятати переклад вказівних займенників та обставин місця і часу в реченнях вищезгаданого типу.
