Give me a piece of advice on what sights to see in London?

2.

What sights in England would you advise your friends to visit?

I think that you should visit the City, the oldest part of London where you can see St. Paul’s Cathedral, the greatest English church which was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren. The most visited sight of the City is the Tower of London. It was founded in the 11th century. The Tower was used as a fortress, a palace and a prison. Many famous prisoners were executed there and you can even see their ghosts. There are also some ravens and the legend says that if the ravens disappear the Tower will fall.

Now the Tower of London is a museum and you can also see the Ceremony of the Keys here.

3.

What British festivals would you advise your friends to visit?

I advise you to visit the annual National Eisteddfod in Wales. It’s the most spectacular and moving festival in Britain. This festival is for everyone who loves poetry and songs. World famous poets and singers take part in the colourful competition. The most important event is the choosing of the winning poet. Here you can also see druids and bards.

4.

Your friend wants to try British cuisine. Advise him what to choose to “taste Britain “?

When we visit any place we want to try national food. But ways of life change and many traditional dishes are forgotten. Now many people of different nationalities live in Britain and today you can try dishes from India, Pakistan, Africa and other countries.

But I advise you to try real English tea. 5 o’clock tea has become a tradition. It’s some kind of a ritual. The English usually have tea with a thin slice of bread and butter and cakes. Strong tea with sugar, cream or milk is called an English tea.

5.

I would like to enter any famous British University. What university would you advise me to choose?

The most famous universities of GB are Oxford and Cambridge. They are very prestigious but expensive.

I advise you to choose Oxford which is a historic and unique institution. It’s the oldest English-speaking university in the world. Oxford has strong links with many research centres, business and industry all over the world. The education here is of a high quality. The University has excellent facilities and resources for education: world-famous libraries, laboratories and museums.
