Do you agree that schoolchildren must wear a school uniform? Why (not)?

As I know, in Britain every school has its own special uniform. And most pupils like it. In Belarus school uniform is required. I believe that everybody has the freedom to choose the clothes he/she likes, but we should be appropriately dressed for the occasion. School is a place where students get knowledge, it’s not a playground.

Do you agree that our school gives a person a good start in life? Why (not)?

Do you agree that Belarusian secondary school provides a person with good knowledge? Why?

I absolutely agree that school gives a good start in life. The main task of school is to develop a child’s personality and talent. Our teachers always try to show us how to learn difficult things. In my view, a child is given a possibility to be a success at school. But his achievements depend on his everyday hard work.

Do you agree that working hard is more important for success than having natural abilities? Why (not)?

A proverb says “success is a ladder that can’t be climbed with your hands in pockets”. So, I believe that having natural abilities is not enough to be a success. Working hard is more important. Let’s remember Horatio Nelson. In his childhood he wanted to become a seaman. But he had poor health. He began to do a lot of physical exercises. Nelson had a great will and at 14 he joined his first sea expedition. Soon he became a famous British admiral.

Does a person need to possess special qualities to become a good specialist in this or that particular field? Why?

I think everyone should become a good specialist in his/her profession.But to become a real specialist you should be devoted to the activity you are keen on. You should be persistent, hard-working, brave, responsible and self-disciplined. All these qualities are very important.

Do you want to have a part –time job, when you are a student? Why (not)?

A lot of young people nowadays take up part-time jobs. They earn their own money, which gives them a sense of independence. As for me, I want to have a part-time job, but only if I have time for this.

Is there any profession you wouldn’t like to go into? Why (not)?

Is there any kind of job you would never choose? Why?

I am sure that all professions are necessary, but I wouldn’t choose an office job.I don’t want to work in an office because I think it’s boring. I want to be mobile, to meet other people and to have an interesting and creative job.

Does your school differ from any other school you know?

I think my school differs from other schools in Pinsk because all our teachers are highly educated people devoted to their work. Pupils of our school are more active and successful in sports and studying. Besides, we have a lot of traditions.

Does your school have any traditions?

Every year different concerts, sports competitions, Olympiads, picnics and excursions are held in our school. We also have the pupils’ administration. There are a lot of traditions in our gymnasium: subject weeks, competitions like “Lady Autumn” and “Mister Listapad”, “Maslenitsa”.
