WHO invented the first computer?

WHO invented the first computer? And when? The answer will surprise you: it was Charles Babbage, in the year 1832. Babbage, who was born in London in 1791, was a great mathematical genius. He was a natural inventor, and invented all sorts of new products. When he finished school, he went to study mathematics at Cambridge University. There, while Professor of Mathematics in this illustrious university, he designed his ‘first difference engine’.This was, basically, a hand-operated mechanical calculator. He took nine years to build a part of the machine.

This machine, which is in the London Science Museum, can make complex mathematical calculations. It is a basic mechanical computer. Babbage dreamed however of more complicated machines. In fact, he did not only dream; he began to design them. The result was a series of ‘analytical engines’ which were in fact powerful computers! His designs contained processors (he called them ‘mills’), control units, a memory (he called it a store), and an input/output system. These are the four essential parts of a modern mathematical computer!

A child is not born a reasonable being. It is only by listening and watching, examining everything by touching and tasting, that it learns what is good and what is bad. The more a child sees and hears, the more it knows. One may learn a good deal by listening to wise men. It is not enough to be endowed with a brain—only by hearing and memorizing the teachings of the learnt and by avoiding vices one can grow up a complete person.

But if one listens to wise words either with excessive enthusiasm or, conversely, paying too little attention, without asking what may not be clear, trying to get to the heart of the matter or drawing one's own conclusions, even though one may feel the wisdom and justice of such good counsels— what is the use of listening?

Kazakh cuisine

Traditional Kazakh cuisine revolves around mutton and horse meat as well as various milk products. For hundreds of years, Kazakhs were herders who raised fat-tailed sheep, Bactrian camels, and horses, relying on these animals for transportation, clothing, and food. The cooking techniques and major ingredients have been strongly influenced by the nation’s nomadic way of life. For example, most cooking techniques are aimed at long-term preservation of food. There is large practice of salting and drying meat so that it will last, and there is a preference for sour milk, as it is easier to save in a nomadic lifestyle.

Meat in various forms has always been the primary ingredient of Kazakh cuisine, and traditional Kazakh cooking is based on boiling. Horse and mutton are the most popular forms of meat and are most often served in large uncut pieces, which have been boiled. Kazakhs cared especially for horses which they intended to slaughter-keeping them separate from other animals and feeding them so much that they often became so fat they had difficulty moving.

In 1863, the Football Association was set up to help promote the game in Britain.

The game is played on a grass or artificial pitch with a goal net at each end.
