Приложение III. Коттинглийские эльфы

Любой фольклорист в связи с ними ощутит сильное эстетическое неприятие: эльфы из Коттингли выглядят прообразом одетых в прозрачные шелка эльфиков с крылышками бабочек, сошедших с иллюстраций в детских журналах. Одеты они были также в полном соответствии с модой тех времен – особенно один коротко стриженный эльфик в коротких штанишках, протягивающий Элси букет на одном из снимков 1920 г. Несмотря на то, что Кирк и другие авторитеты считают, что эльфы обычно одеваются соответственно эпохе и местности, глядя на эти фотографии, испытываешь невольное нежелание поверить в их подлинность.
